Angels: Pitcher Scott Sanderson, who started the season on the disabled list, left in the fourth inning with a strained right groin.

Tigers: Starter Clint Sodowsky failed to get out of the second inning for his second straight start, allowing five runs in 1 1/3 innings. His ERA rose to 9.78. In his previous start at Seattle on April 18, Sodowsky was knocked out without retiring a batter in a six-run second.
