New York man arrested in theft at sports store

A New York man was arrested Monday night, charged with trying to walk out of a Glen Burnie sports store without paying for about $85 worth of items.

Police charged Christopher Steven Clarke, 45, of the first block of Clinton St. in North Tarrytown, N.Y., with theft.

Police said a store security officer saw a man remove a shirt worth $19.96 from a display rack and put it in his pants about 7: 30 p.m. The man then took a pair of tennis shoes worth $64.96 and put it under his shirt.

When the man tried to leave the store without paying for the merchandise, the security guard stopped him and held held him for police.

Baltimore man charged with theft at clothing store

A Baltimore man was arrested Monday night on charges of trying to steal more than $400 worth of clothing from a Glen Burnie retail store, police said.

Clea Hatcher, 41, of the 600 block of W. Franklin St. was charged with theft.

A security officer at the Value City department store in the 7700 block of Ritchie Highway said he saw a man put 20 shirts and four pairs of shoes, worth a total of $444.75, in a shopping cart and walk out of the store about 7: 20 p.m. without paying for them.

The guard stopped the man and held him until police arrived.
