Three Glen Burnie teens were arrested Monday and charged with attempted theft and destruction after police said they caught the youths trying to steal a Chevrolet Camaro parked in the first block of Mary Lane in Glen Burnie.

Police said one of the youths admitted that the group stole one other Camaro and tried to steal three other cars between midnight and 4 a.m.

The youths, who range in age from 14 to 16, were spotted about 3: 50 a.m. breaking into a 1989 blue Camaro in the first block of Mary Lane in Glen Burnie, police said.

When police arrived, the suspects fled. Officers caught the teen-agers and also recovered two screwdrivers they used to get into the cars, police said.

One of the youths told police that the group had earlier stolen a 1988 red Camaro from the 7900 block of Elvaton Court in Glen Burnie and that they had tried to steal a 1988 white Camaro parked in the 400 block of Summerwind Way in Millersville, and a 1992 white Camaro and a 1982 silver Camaro from the first block of Mary Lane. They couldn't get the 1992 Camaro started and ran when a car alarm for the second vehicle sounded.

All three were charged as juveniles and released to their parents.
