A robber held an employee at gunpoint inside an Ellicott City grocery store office Monday night and stole more than $3,000 in cash from the business, Howard County police said.

No one was injured in the robbery and no other employees or customers were involved, police said.

Investigators said a man entered the office of the Super Fresh in the 8800 block of U.S. 40 about 9 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded money from an employee. The employee complied, and the man ran off with the store's cash.

The robber was described as a black male, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, wearing dark-colored clothing and a baseball hat, police said.

He may have been accompanied by another man who waited nearby. The possible accomplice was described as a black male, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a baseball hat, police said.

Anyone with information should call Howard County police at 313-2220 or the Maryland Crime Stoppers Hotline at 276-8888 to qualify for a $2,000 reward, police said.
