Portions of JFX are closed

April 20, 1996

Portions of the northbound and southbound Jones Falls Expressway will be closed to traffic until 5 a.m. Monday, the Baltimore Department of Public Works says.

The road is closing so crews can erect two structural steel girders above the expressway as part of the extension of light rail to Penn Station.

The expressway will be closed southbound between North Avenue and Eager Street, and northbound between Fayette and Charles streets. The southbound off ramps at Maryland Avenue, St. Paul Street and Guilford Avenue also will be closed, as will the on ramp at North Avenue. Northbound, the on ramps at Fayette, Gay, Madison and Charles streets will be closed.

Southbound traffic will be detoured to the Eager Street on ramp; northbound traffic will be detoured to the North-Mount Royal avenues on ramp.
