Public Works to flush hydrants in Westminster

April 19, 1996

Westminster's Department of Public Works will flush fire hydrants from 8 p.m. to midnight Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Affected areas will be some parts of The Greens; the East Main Street area, including Longwell, Willis, Court, Ralph, Church, Greenwood, Manchester streets and Tuc Road; 140 Village Shopping Center; Crossroads Square and Weis Market; and Route 97/Old Westminster Pike area east, including Walnut Ridge.

Flushing will cause discoloration to water.

It is advisable not to do laundry the day after. Draw water for use the next morning before hydrants are flushed.

Residents should open all faucets first thing the next morning and run them until water is clear. Although water might be discolored, it will be fully treated and drinkable.
