Braves: Placed SS Jeff Blauser on 15-day DL with a slight tear of the posterior capsule in his right knee. To fill the spot, they recalled IF Ed Giavanola from Triple-A Richmond. Blauser injured the knee in a collision with San Diego's Wally Joyner during a play at second last weekend. Blauser, hitting .205 with one homer and one RBI in 12 games, was placed on the DL retroactive to April 14.

Cubs: 3B Dave Magadan was put back on the DL with inflammation in the hand he had operated on last month. Magadan was activated Tuesday, but after taking batting practice his left hand became sore and stiff, and yesterday he couldn't swing a bat or catch a ball. To fill the roster spot, the Cubs called up OF Robin Jennings from Triple-A Iowa. In 10 games, Jennings batted .316 with four homers and 12 RBIs for the minor league team. Magadan had a bone spur removed from his left hand on March 11. Magadan said X-rays revealed no bone damage. He will remain with the Cubs to rehabilitate the injury before going out on a rehabilitation assignment in the minors.

Dodgers: Delino DeShields has led off a game with a homer six times. . . . Mike Piazza, whose 23 hits lead the team, doubled in the first inning for his first extra base hit of the season. The double snapped a career-high streak of 55 at-bats without an extra base hit.

Marlins: Placed reliever Alejandro Pena on the 15-day DL with a strained rotator cuff. Pena was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in four appearances. RHP Terry Mathews was activated from the 15-day DL to replace Pena, who was put on the list retroactive to April 14.

Mets: LHP Bill Pulsipher underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn medial collateral ligament in his left elbow and will be re-evaluated in July.

Padres: The team remained in first place for the 15th straight day, its longest stretch as a front-runner since a 16-day run in April 1991.

Rockies: RHP Bill Swift, still bothered by a sore shoulder after off-season surgery, departed for Birmingham, Ala., to be examined today by Dr. James Andrews. Swift had hoped to be pitching by the end of the month.
