Hampstead is honored as Tree City again

April 16, 1996

Hampstead has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the fourth time.

A community qualifies for the honor by having a tree ordinance, a tree governing body, a comprehensive urban forestry program and observation of Arbor Day.

Each winners receives a flag with the program's logo, a plaque and a Tree City USA community sign.

The program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the federal Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.

Fire

Lineboro: Firefighters responded at 1: 47 p.m. Thursday to a brush fire on Glenville Road. Units were out 30 minutes.

Lineboro: Firefighters responded at 2: 19 p.m. Thursday to a woods fire on Ruhl Road. Units were out 30 minutes.
