Almonte's hits wasted in Keys' 4-3 defeat

SALEM, Va. -- Despite three hits from Wady Almonte, the Salem Avalanche defeated the Frederick Keys, 4-3, yesterday in a Single-A Carolina League game.

First baseman Tom Russin added two hits for Frederick, which heads to Lynchburg today to begin a four-game series with the Hillcats after taking two of three from the Avalanche.

Keys second baseman Lincoln Martin went hitless, ending his seven-game hitting streak.
