Ceremonies to mark Yom Hashoah begin tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Yom Hashoah, the Holocaust Day of Remembrance, will be observed in ceremonies beginning at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the War Memorial Building, Lexington and Gay streets, in Baltimore.

The event, sponsored by the Baltimore Jewish Council, is open to the community.

The Joint Distribution Committee will be honored for aiding Holocaust survivors. After World War II, the JDC supported hundreds of thousands of survivors in Germany, Austria and Italy.

The keynote address will be delivered by Michael Schneider, executive vice president of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

Women's Day celebration to feature speakers

St. Mark's United Methodist Church at 3900 Liberty Heights Ave., Baltimore, will celebrate its annual Women's Day tomorrow.

The 11 a.m. service will feature Dr. E. Fran Johnson of Union Baptist Church in Baltimore. The Rev. Bonita Owens, pastor of St. Thomas AME Zion Church in Somerville, N.J., will speak at 3 p.m. Information: 542-0355.
