A 16-year-old Damascus girl was sexually assaulted in her aunt's home in Columbia's Oakland Mills village early Monday, but the teen broke away and fled before being harmed further, Howard County police said.

Robert Lee Jenkins, 42, of no fixed address, has been charged with second- and fourth-degree sex offenses. He was being held yesterday on $100,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center, a District Court commissioner said.

The girl was examined at Howard County General Hospital and released, police said.

Mr. Jenkins had been staying at an acquaintance's apartment in the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road in Columbia's Oakland Mills village when the incident occurred, police said.

About 2: 30 a.m. Monday, the victim told police, a man walked into her bedroom at the apartment, threatened her, forced her to the floor and sexually assaulted her. The girl was dragged back to another bedroom, but struggled and ran to her aunt's bedroom for help, police said.

Police arrested the suspect at the apartment.
