Ecker to file budget plans for agencies this month Hearings, work sessions planned through May in George Howard Building

Howard County Executive Charles I. Ecker will submit proposed budgets for Howard County's public agencies this month to the County Council for review and approval.

All hearings will be in the Banneker Room and work sessions will be in the Ellicott or Tyson rooms of the George Howard Building in Ellicott City.

The schedule of hearings is:

Executive's presentation of the budget: 7: 30 p.m. April 22.

Public hearing -- capital budget: 7: 30 p.m. April 23.

Work session No. 1 -- capital budget: 10 a.m. April 29.

Work session No. 2 -- capital budget (if necessary): 10 a.m. May 1.

Presentation of the operating budget: 5: 30 p.m. May 6.

Public hearing -- operating budget: 7 p.m. May 7.

Public hearing (community college, capital and operating budgets): 7 p.m. May 8.

Public hearing (Board of Education, capital and operating budgets; general public hearing (capital and operating budgets): 7: 30 p.m. May 8.

Work session (certain agencies): 9 a.m. May 14.

Work session (certain agencies): 1 p.m. May 14.

Work session (community college, capital and operating budgets; certain agencies, operating budget): 9 a.m. May 16.

Work session (Board of Education, capital and operating budgets): 1 p.m. May 16.

Public hearing (constant yield tax rate): 7: 30 p.m. May 20.

Work session No. 2 (Board of Education, capital and operating budgets, if necessary): 10 a.m. May 21.

Work session No. 2 (pending items, if necessary): 1 p.m. May 21.

Legislative session; approve capital and operating budgets and set tax rate: Noon, May 23.
