Cubs: It was so cold at Wrigley Field that IF Rey Sanchez wore a ski mask in the field and at the plate.

Expos: Pitcher Carlos Perez was placed on the disabled list before the game to open a roster spot for Jose Paniagua. Perez has tendinitis in his left shoulder and had to come out of his spring training start March 30 after one inning.

Marlins: Quilvio Veras left the game in the fifth inning with tightness in his left hamstring.

Mets: The team's four errors in the eighth inning equaled a team record set June 9, 1987, at Chicago and equaled May 1, 1991, against San Diego. . . . Bernard Gilkey had six RBIs in the three-game series against his former team.

Reds: Closer Jeff Brantley expects to be activated off the disabled list this weekend in Philadelphia. He had surgery to remove a broken bone from his right foot March 3.
