Designer Show House to raise money for North Arundel Hospital center

A NEWLY constructed 7,000-square-foot home in the waterfront community of Bodkin Pointe is the site of North Arundel Hospital Foundation's 1996 Designer Show House, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 through May 12.

The dream house will show off the work of many local interior and landscape design firms. Refreshments will be served in a large tent on the grounds of the house and a boutique filled with gifts, specialty foods and arts and crafts will be set up in the garage.

Accessories and furnishings will be sold by the designers;others will be raffled. The grand prize is a trip for two to Munich, Germany.

Advance tickets are $10 each and are available by mail or at local merchants. Tickets at the door are $12.

No parking is available at the show house. Visitors should park in the lot at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Road. Shuttle buses will provide transportation.

The house is not accessible to the handicapped. No children younger than 10 will be admitted. Cameras and spike heels are prohibited.

Profits will help pay for North Arundel Health System's Special Beginnings Birth and Women's Center in Arnold. The center will provide prenatal and delivery services to county women, as well as classes for couples planning families.

Sportfishing tricks

The Pasadena Sportfishing Group will meet at 7: 30 p.m. Monday at the Orchard Beach fire hall on Solley Road.

Sonney Forrest and Mitch Bateman will offer tips on fishing for rockfish and drum.

Entries and information on this year's crappy fishing contest in Salisbury and the flounder contest in Wachapreague, Va., will be available. In addition, an auction, 50-50 door prize and prize table are planned.

Food will be sold starting at 6 p.m.

Traveling singer

Danny Sinacori will present a concert of sacred music at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chesapeake Christian Center, 7975 Tick Neck Road.

Mr. Sinacori has sung at some of the largest churches in America.

Elder law seminar

The American Day Treatment Center, 8131 Ritchie Highway, will offer a free program on "Elder Law and Long-Term Care Planning" from 8: 30 a.m. to 10 a.m. April 18.

Alan Deanehan, a lawyer specializing in issues affecting the elderly, will present the program.
