Woman's car stolen after assault

April 04, 1996

A Baltimore woman was assaulted Tuesday outside a fast-food restaurant in Brooklyn Park by a man who stole her car and apparently intends to hold it for ransom, county police said.

Mary Ann Brown, 24, of the 3700 block of Everett St. told police she was walking out of McDonald's at Route 2 and 11th Avenue in Brooklyn Park shortly before 9 p.m. when she was approached by an acquaintance.

The man asked for a ride, then punched her in the face, grabbed her car keys and sped off in her white 1991 Toyota Camry, police said. Before he drove away, the man told Ms. Brown that she could page him and give him money and get the car back, police said.

Officers had Ms. Brown page the man, but he did not respond.

The car, license tag CDF-118, was still listed as missing yesterday afternoon.
