AACC graduate wins $3,200 scholarship

Gregory J. Sanders, a 1993 Anne Arundel Community College graduate who is a night-shift sergeant with the campus security department, has been awarded a $3,200 Wilson alumni scholarship by the school's Alumni and Friends Association.

Mr. Sanders, who plans to attend the University of Baltimore in the fall, graduated from the community college with an associate of arts degree in general studies and a 3.72 grade point average.

He later earned a certificate in criminal justice and law enforcement.

Mr. Sanders, who is considering majoring in law, is the school's seventh recipient of the scholarship, which honors Theodore Halbert Wilson, president of the University of Baltimore from 1940 to 1962.

Group helps people with drink, drug problems

SMART (Self Management and Recovery Training) meets at 7: 30 p.m. Thursdays at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road.

SMART is a self-help group for people having problems with drinking and drugs.
