Ocean City Flower Show

This weekend, Ocean City celebrates the arrival of spring with its second annual Flower Show. The show will begin tomorrow with a floral display competition, in which the general public is invited to participate. Visitors can enjoy floral exhibits as well as an arts and crafts show, which will include the work of more than 100 artisans.

On Saturday, Roger Swain, host of the PBS program "The Victory Garden," will present several seminars on gardening, which will be followed by book signings. On Saturday evening, the Grant A Wish Foundation will hold a "Taste of the Shore" fund-raiser, in which local restaurants and caterers will present their Eastern Shore favorites.

The Flower Show will be held at the Ocean City Convention Center. Hours are Friday noon to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $1.50 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under 6. Antique quilt auction

The 40th annual Pennsylvania Relief Sale will be held this weekend at the Harrisburg Farm Show Building. Scheduled events include a country breakfast beginning at 6 a.m. and the sale of a large variety of craft and home items beginning at 9 a.m. The highlight of this year's sale is the auction of 12 antique quilts, most of which were handed down for generations in a Pennsylvania family.

The Farm Show Building is at Maclay and Cameron streets in Harrisburg. All proceeds from the sale support the work of the Mennonite Central Committee, an international relief and development agency. For more information about the event, call (717) 944-0293.
