Thief breaks into vehicles in Jessup neighborhood

Someone broke into three unlocked motor vehicles in a Jessup neighborhood Sunday and stole cash, sunglasses and stereo equipment, county police said yesterday. The thief also tampered with a fourth vehicle.

Police said the incidents occurred between midnight and 5 a.m. in the Champion Forest neighborhood. The thief stole about $4 in coins from the ashtray of a 1991 Ford Probe parked in the 2000 block of Orchard Ave.; $25 from a 1995 Ford truck in the 7700 block of Apple Ave.; and sunglasses and a stereo from a 1988 Dodge truck in the 200 block of Citrus Ave., police said.

Kenneth Clark Jr., owner of the Dodge, told police someone also broke into his unlocked 1995 Dodge Neon, but didn't take anything.
