Police arrest suspect in 2 '95 robberies

A Gaithersburg man accused of two strong-armed robberies in different counties Dec. 1 was freed on $15,000 bond after he was arrested and charged last week, state police said Friday.

An informant led investigators to arrest Rodney William Seabolt Jr.on charges of robbing the Ames store in Mount Airy and taking a purse from a woman outside Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick.

Commissioners approve liquor license transfer

The Board of License Commissioners of Carroll County has approved a transfer of a Class A-Beer, Wine and Liquor License for the Cork 'N Bottle on Route 27 in Taylorsville.

The request was made to change the license holder from Lawrence A. Ladd and Herbert Snyder to Herbert Snyder and James Frank Orzolek.

Several witnesses testified for the applicants at a hearing March 12. The request was granted pending a background report on Mr. Orzolek and proof that taxes have been paid.

Fire

Mount Airy: Mount Airy units assisted Howard County firefighters at 1: 58 a.m. Friday, responding to a house fire on Ridge Road. They were out 30 minutes.

Mount Airy: Mount Airy units responded at 12: 37 p.m. Thursday to a chimney fire in the 7900 block of Woodville Road in Frederick County. They were out 25 minutes.

Winfield: Units from Lisbon in Howard County and Mount Airy assisted Winfield firefighters at 9: 37 p.m. Thursday, responding to a house fire on Buckhorn Road. They were out 30 minutes.

Winfield: Mount Airy and New Windsor units assisted Winfield firefighters at 11: 57 a.m. Friday, responding to a house fire on Sequoia Drive. They were out 25 minutes.

Winfield: Winfield units responded at 3: 39 p.m. Friday to a fire alarm on Hooper Road. They were out 30 minutes.
