Improvement group schedules Easter egg hunt

THE ARUNDEL Improvement Association's annual Easter egg hunt will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Community Hall, 705 Cross St. Children ages 1 to 11 are invited to join.

Prizes will be awarded in four age groups. All children will receive candy and must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers are needed at 7 p.m. Friday to help dye eggs at the Community Hall. Parents are asked to donate cupcakes. For more information, call 789-2192.

St. John services

226 Washburn Ave, has scheduled a Lenten service for 11 a.m. Wednesday but no evening service. Holy Communion will be offered at 10 a.m. and at 7: 15 p.m. Thursday. Two services are planned for Good Friday, a reading of the Passion according to St. John at noon and a Tenebrae service at 7: 15 p.m.

Easter Sunday will begin with an Easter vigil at 5: 45 a.m. and a procession to Garrett Park for Holy Communion at 6: 45 a.m. Two festival services of Holy Communion are scheduled for 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The Sunday school's outdoor parade and program will start at 9: 45 a.m.

The church will offer guided tours of the sanctuary and day school classrooms at an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Easter Monday.

Easter services

Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church, 110 Townsend Ave., will hold a service at 7: 30 p.m. Good Friday. An Easter sunrise service is scheduled for 6 a.m., a breakfast for 7 a.m. and worship services for 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Dinner and show

The Brooklyn Heights Players of Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church will present their third annual dinner and variety show May 4. Doors will open for dinner at 5: 30 p.m., with the show at 7 p.m. The menu will consist of soup, lasagna, salad, dessert and a beverage. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 10 and nothing for children 5 and younger. Seating is limited to 200, so purchase tickets early.

Police council

The April meeting of the Northern District Police Community Relations Council is scheduled for 7: 30 p.m. Wednesday at the Northern District station, 939 Hammonds Lane. Sheriff George Johnson will be the will report on activities at Northern District.

Summer activites

It is not too early to start making plans for your children for the summer. The Summer Playground sponsored by Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department offers activities for children ages 5 1/2 to 12.

This program is offered at Brooklyn Park Elementary School, 200 14th Ave. The playground will operate from 9 a.m. until 2: 30 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning June 24 and continuing through Aug. 2. Activities will include sports, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games and field trips. The cost of registration is $85 per child and $75 for each additional child.
