IRS, state gearing up for April 15 deadline Satellite offices at malls will offer taxpayers help

State and federal officials will set up satellite offices to help residents meet the April 15 deadline for filing income tax returns.

Representatives from the Internal Revenue Service and the state comptroller's office will be available:

Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4: 15 p.m. in the lobby of the Fallon Federal Building at 31 Hopkins Plaza in downtown Baltimore and in the lobby of the state office building at 301 W. Preston St.

Tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. near the food court at Security Square Mall in Woodlawn and near Hecht's in Laurel Centre Mall in Prince George's County.

April 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. near the food court at Security Square Mall and on the second floor near Macy's at White Marsh Mall, also in Baltimore County.

Taxpayers may call the IRS for assistance from 7: 30 a.m. to 5: 30 p.m. in Baltimore at 962-2590 and elsewhere in Maryland and the District of Columbia at 800-829-1040.

State tax assistance is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 974-3981 or 800-MD-TAXES.
