Severna Park Jaycees to hold Easter egg hunt Saturday at club

FILL your baskets with goodies at the Severna Park Jaycees annual Easter Egg Hunt from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Jaycee community center in Kinder Park.

The event is free, but a donation to the Jaycees for their many civic projects would be appropriate, President Eric Jorgenson said.

Holy Week services

Our neighborhood churches have scheduled an entire week of Holy Week activities, beginning Sunday.

Ministers from the Severna Park Ministry Group will lead the community's Ecumenical Good Friday Service from noon to 3 p.m. April 5 at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The members of the clergy will speak on the seven words from the Cross, and music presentations will be featured.

The public is invited will have a blessing of the palms at 8 a.m. Sunday. At 9 a.m. and 11: 15 a.m. the church will have a re-enactment of the foot washing, the Last Supper and Christ's death. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

An all-night vigil will be held from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. after the Maundy Thursday service. Easter services are 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11: 15 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will be held for children at 10 a.m.

At Severna Park United Methodist Church, Palm Sunday services are at 8 a.m., 9: 15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Maundy Thursday will be celebrated with an 8 p.m. Communion service, featuring a presentation of "The Door," a musical composition based on the Last Supper.

The church will have its annual 6: 30 a.m. Easter sunrise service in the Chapel in the Woods. Other services will be at 8 a.m., 9: 15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Services at Severna Park Baptist Church this Sunday and Easter are at 10: 45 a.m.

Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church begins Palm Sunday with its regular 8: 15 a.m. service. At 9: 30 and 11 a.m., the services feature a special donkey procession.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services are at 7: 30 p.m.

On Easter, after a 6: 30 a.m. "Sonrise" service, services will be at 9: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Palm Sunday services at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church are 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10: 30 a.m and 12: 15 p.m. and 5: 15 p.m.

Mass on Holy Thursday is 7: 30 p.m., and 2: 30 p.m. and 7: 30 p.m. on Good Friday. On Saturday, a traditional Easter vigil begins at 8 p.m.

Easter services are at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10: 30 a.m. and 12: 15 p.m.

Palm Sunday services at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church are at 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Dr. George P. Mocko, bishop of the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, will preach at both services.

A 7: 30 p.m. service will be held Wednesday, and Maundy Thursday services will be at 6: 30 p.m. and 7: 30 p.m.

The church will have a 6: 30 Easter sunrise service. A light breakfast will be served between the 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services.

Rotary meeting

Members of the Severna Park Rotary Club will hear a report from Severna Park High School students Jody Pollock and Sara Sprague, at next Thursday's meeting.

The students are co-presidents of the Interact Club, which is sponsored by Rotary.
