Residential brush fire contained

March 28, 1996|By Ed Heard | Ed Heard,SUN STAFF

Howard and Anne Arundel County fire crews battled a brush fire in a residential area of North Laurel yesterday afternoon. No injuries were reported, fire officials said, and damage was limited to a relatively small area.

The fire was reported at 1: 50 p.m. when a resident on 6th Street called 911 about a fire behind a single-family home. Firefighters from Savage, Scaggsville and Anne Arundel had extinguished the fire by about 3: 15 p.m., said Lt. Michael Baker, a spokesman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue.

Lieutenant Baker attributed the length of time it took to put out the small blaze to the trouble firefighters from different jurisdictions had in finding the small street.
