More than 150 bus drivers and bus attendants protested last night before the Baltimore County school board in Towson, demanding overtime pay for working holidays now scheduled as snow makeup days.
Because they are considered part-time employees, the drivers and attendants do not qualify for extra pay awarded full-time employees in their union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
Snow days this year have forced school to open Easter Monday and Memorial Day. Board President Calvin D. Disney asked Superintendent Anthony G. Marchione to work with the employees.
