4-goal finish lifts Loyola over J. Madison, 8-7

Erica Attonito scored both the tying and game-winning goals as Loyola edged host James Madison, 8-7, yesterday in women's lacrosse.

Attonito, who had three goals, netted the winning score with 1: 32 remaining, capping a game-winning 4-0 Loyola run.

The Greyhounds (5-0) ended a four-game winning streak by the Dukes (4-2). Allison Valentino and Kerri Johnson each scored two goals for Loyola.

Maryland 17, Georgetown 1: Kelly Amonte had three goals and two assists as host Maryland (6-0) routed Georgetown (3-2) for its 23rd straight victory.

Amonte has moved into second place on Maryland's career scoring list, six points shy of record-holder Judy Dougherty (1978-81).

L Karen MacCrate added a career-best four goals for the Terps.

Towson State 14, Vermont 3: Amy Buck and Megan Drake scored three goals each to help Towson State (3-2) defeat visiting Vermont (1-2).

Goucher 27, Susquehanna 6: Michel Mohlman totaled seven goals and two assists to pace Goucher (5-1) over visiting Susquehanna (0-1), as the Gophers set a school single-game record for goals scored.

Trenton State 18, Salisbury State 4: The Lions (1-0) extended their winning streak to 75 games by beating Salisbury State (2-2). Jennifer Mazzucca scored five goals for the Lions.

St. Mary's 13, Widener 2: Gia Trionfo and Lindia Papavasiliou each had three goals for host St. Mary's (2-1).

John Hopkins 20, Muhlenberg 8: Jenn Ward scored seven goals and Francine Brennan had five to power visiting Johns Hopkins (2-1) past Muhlenberg (0-2).

College of Notre Dame 16, Mary Baldwin 0: Tinah Houck, Holly Gentempo and Carly Goertz each scored three goals as visiting College of Notre Dame (2-1) shut out Mary Baldwin (1-3).
