Pimlico Race Course officials have changed the time of the post position draws for the Preakness Stakes and Early Times Dixie.
Previously held on the Thursday morning before the Preakness, the draws will be held in the Pimlico Sports Palace at approximately 5: 30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.
The Grade I, $500,000 Preakness and Grade II, $200,000 Early Times will be run May 18.
"The popularity of the post position draws has grown dramatically," said Pimlico president Joe De Francis. "This change certainly enhances the draws."
A revised racing schedule also has been announced for Preakness Week.
Live racing is scheduled May 12, the Sunday before the Preakness, followed by two dark days. Live racing will resume Wednesday through Preakness Day.
Supplemental Preakness entries (which cost $100,000) will be accepted until the race's entries close May 15.
The Early Times Dixie is the premier grass event of the Pimlico spring meeting. Limited to 12 starters, horses may be supplemented to this race (at a cost of $2,500) until May 15.
Preakness Week at the track officially begins May 11 with the Grade I, $600,000 Pimlico Special, a race that may attract defending champion and 1995 Horse of the Year Cigar.
The meeting begins April 2 and will offer more than $3.75 million in purses.
Post time will be 1 p.m. daily except 11 a.m. on Preakness Day and 12: 30 p.m. on Pimlico Special Day and Kentucky Derby Day.
