Connecticut (32-2) vs. Mississippi State (24-7)

Time: 7: 40

TV: Chs. 13, 9

Line: Connecticut by 8

Outlook: Mississippi State had to grind it out against Princeton last week, and now the Bulldogs will have to run with UConn's sprinters. One critical matchup sends UConn's Ray Allen (23.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg) against MSU's Darryl Wilson (17.8 ppg). The Bulldogs hope to get the upper hand inside, where 6-foot-11, 265-pound Erick Dampier will lean heavily on Travis Knight (7-0, 235). Potential big loss for Huskies is freshman guard Ricky Moore (questionable with a shoulder separation), who penetrates offense and helps the press on defense.

Cincinnati (27-4) vs. Georgia Tech (24-11)

Time: 10: 10 (approximate)

TV: Chs. 13, 9

Line: Cincinnati by 1 1/2

Outlook: The styles contrast and the strengths are different, but both teams can be dangerous. Cincinnati can dominate with 6-7 Danny Fortson (20.3 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and 6-9 Art Long (9.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg) in its power game. Georgia Tech counters with a perimeter game that features Stephon Marbury (19.0 ppg), Drew Barry (6.6 apg) and Matt Harpring (18.8 ppg). In a game of power against finesse, Cincinnati will have to come up with an answer for Marbury and Barry in the backcourt.
