...4TC Gary A. Oster, the general manager of the Stouffer Renaissance Harborplace Hotel and a tireless advocate for Baltimore's tourism industry, has been named "Hotelier of the Year" by the Maryland Hotel & Motel Association.

Along with managing the 622-room luxury hotel on Pratt Street, Mr. Oster plays a key role in Baltimore tourism organizations. He heads the Greater Baltimore Committee's tourism committee, serves as co-chairman of the Downtown Public Safety Coalition and is a member of the governing boards of the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association and the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.

The hotel and motel group also recognized one of Mr. Oster's employees, Stephen Dobyski, as "Bellman of the Year." Mr. Dobyski, the assistant bell captain and a four-year employee of the hotel, defines the job broadly.

He not only helps out with luggage, but he's also been known to change tires, deliver tuxedos, make sure the dry cleaning goes out and gets back so it's ready when the guest is.

Mr. Oster and Mr. Dobyski received their awards this week at the Loews Annapolis Hotel.
