No. 10 Duke overwhelms Navy, 15-4

John Fay scored five goals and Jim Gonnella added four assists as No. 10 Duke stormed past No. 18 Navy, 15-4, yesterday before 1,108 at Rip Miller Field in Annapolis.

This win was Duke's seventh in 31 meetings with the Mids and its first at Navy since 1948. Navy (3-2) hasn't beaten an Atlantic Coast Conference team since 1993, losing eight straight.

Navy's Scott Meushaw scored the first goal of the game after 45 seconds. Plebe Jamie O'Leary scored Navy's second goal in the first period, and Duke added two for a 2-2 tie.

The Blue Devils (3-2) scored three unanswered goals in the second for a 5-2 halftime lead and got six goals in the third quarter.
