HALLANDALE, Fla. - Post positions were drawn yesterday for Saturday's Florida Derby, and then decreed irrelevant by the horses' trainers. They agreed that the 1 1/8 -mile race will afford the nine contenders the room and distance to settle in and gain desired position.

Built For Pleasure will break from the No. 1 post. Cobra King, the morning-line favorite at 9-to-5, drew No. 2. Trained by 29-year-old Mike Puype, Cobra King has not raced since winning the Holy Bull Stakes Jan. 20.

Trained by Sonny Hine, Skip Away drew No. 3. He is 6-to-1 in the morning line. The Nick Zito-trained Louis Quatorze will break from the No. 4 post. His estimated odds also are 6-to-1.

Long shot Tour's Big Red at 30-to-1 drew No. 5. At 2-to-1 in the morning line, Unbridled's Song will break from the No. 6 post. The D. Wayne Lukas-trained Editor's Note, at 8-to-1, drew No. 7.

Another long shot, the 20-to-1 Ensign Ray, drew No. 8. And Appealing Skier, expected to slash to the lead, will break from the outside No. 9 post. He is 12-to-1 in the morning line.

The race will be televised on "ABC's Wide World of Sports." Probable post time is 4: 38 p.m.
