2 teen-agers are charged in robbery

County police charged two Prince George's County teen-agers Sunday with robbing an Annapolis woman at knifepoint of her car and purse.

Lamar Howard, 17, of the 3700 block of Donnell Drive in Forestville and Jerome Norris, Jr., 17, of the 800 block of New Orchard Drive in Largo were charged as adults with armed carjacking, theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Mary Helen Jewell, 68, of the first block of Collison Ave. told police that two young men approached her as she was unloading groceries at her house shortly after 11: 30 p.m. March 6. One drew a knife and took Ms. Jewell's purse. police said, and the pair drove away in her car.

Washington police saw Ms. Jewell's car, which had been reported stolen, in the district shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday and arrested two youths in the car, police said.

Officers found the knife Ms. Jewell described and the clothing she said her assailants had worn in the car, police said. The youths were turned over to county police.

$96 taken from register at Quiet Waters restaurant

Someone stole $96 from the cash register at the Main Ingredient restaurant at Quiet Waters Park Monday, county police said.

Colleen Sheerin, an employee, told police she counted $100 in the register in the morning and left to get supplies. When she returned about noon, she found that someone had rung up a 50-cent sale and taken all but $4, police said.
