March 13, 1996

Police are looking for a man they say tried to kidnap a 12-year-old girl in Severn on Monday as she walked to her grandmother's house.

The girl told police she was walking in the 1500 block of Mondard Ave. shortly after 4 p.m. when a man drove up next to her and asked if she would like a ride.

When the girl declined, the man drove away, police said.

Police said the incident is unrelated to earlier abduction attempts in North County.

The man is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, with a slender build and shoulder-length dark-brown hair. He wore a light-brown jacket and a black baseball cap.
