A Hanover man was arrested on drug charges Saturday after an officer found a bag of marijuana in the suspect's trouser pocket, county police said.

Travis J. Edelman, 20, of the 1900 block of Pometacom Drive, was a passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation on $H Magothy Bridge Road. He was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and was being held on $4,500 bond at the county detention center.

Officer Brent M. Weaver said he was driving along Magothy Bridge Road about 11: 30 p.m. when a gray 1987 Honda Accord abruptly switched lanes in front of him without signaling.

Officer Weaver stopped the car and smelled marijuana when he spoke to the driver, police said. The officer asked if he could

search the car and the occupants agreed. Officer Weaver found 1 gram of what tested positive for marijuana in a small bag, a pipe and a pack of rolling papers in a passenger's pocket.

The driver and another passenger were released.
