March 12, 1996|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Harford County has received 49 applications for the position of school superintendent, Anne Ober, school board president, said last night before the board meeting at C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air.

Superintendent Ray R. Keech, who has been in the post for eight years, is set to retire in June when his contract expires.

The seven-member school board has until July 1 to find a successor.

The post pays $98,445 a year.

Administrators and community groups have urged the board to choose a superintendent who can lobby elected officials for more money for education and stretch available funds.
