A Sykesville man, accused of trying to abduct a woman from a convenience store last month, has been charged with attempted assault with intent to maim, police said.

Charles Allen Keller Jr. of the 200 block of Bethway Drive also was charged with attempted kidnapping, assault and battery, police said. He is free on $10,000 bond.

According to police, a man approached a 27-year-old woman using a pay telephone outside the Little George's convenience store near Route 26 and Woodbine Road in Winfield on Feb. 17.

After punching the woman, the man began to drag her toward his vehicle, police said.

The woman grabbed a pole and started screaming and the man ran off, police said.
