Shore B&B featured

Don't miss the Woman's Day Decorating Ideas magazine currently on newsstands. It features an Eastern Shore bed and breakfast, Gross' Coate, owned by Jon and Molly Ginn.

The couple had designer Margot Gunther renew the traditional interior of the spacious 1760s Georgian brick manor when they decided to open three years ago. Twelve pages of color photographs illustrate the pretty and affordable make-over.

Unlike many shelter magazines, Decorating Ideas gives more than just an inside look at the design.

If you like what the decorator has accomplished, you also get directions for making many of the accessories, from the papier-mache trays to the sun-porch window treatments.

900 answers

If you're the kind of gardener who wants answers when it's convenient for you rather than when a garden center or extension service is open, and you're willing to pay for the service, there's a new 900 number for you.

The Flower Line, which is open 24 hours a day, will send you a free tip sheet on soil preparation and a menu if you call (501) 954-6754 and leave either a fax number or name and address. Once you get the menu, the cost of the 900 call is $1.99 a minute.

Off the walls

Plymouth Wallcoverings is offering more than 500 of its wallpaper books free to the public for crafts projects and the like. You can pick them up at any of the three locations: 720 Frederick Road, Catonsville; 10700 York Road, Cockeysville; and 1120 S. Hanover St., Baltimore.
