Today's ACC games

March 08, 1996

At Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum All games on Ch. 54

No. 4 seed Duke (18-11) vs. No. 5 seed Maryland (16-11)

Time: Noon

Radio: WBAL (1090 AM)

Outlook: The Terps may have too much bench and too much motivation for the injury-depleted Blue Devils. Maryland might need this game to get into the NCAA tournament. Duke doesn't. Besides, the Terps haven't forgotten Ricky Price's last-second shot that beat them a week ago.

No. 1 Georgia Tech (20-10) vs. No. 8 N.C. State (15-15)

Time: Outlook: If this is Stephon Marbury's only college season, can he deliver matching regular-season and tourney titles in the ACC?

No. 2 Wake Forest (20-5) vs. No. 7 Virginia (12-14)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: It's payback time for Tim Duncan and the Demon Deacons, who lost in Charlottesville, 67-49, two weeks ago.

No. 3 North Carolina (20-9) vs. No. 6 Clemson (17-9)

Time: 9: 30 p.m.

Outlook: The question isn't whether Carolina can beat Clemson three straight times but whether coaches Dean Smith and Rick Barnes can behave themselves after two years of acrimony.
