The education committee of the local NAACP presented to the Howard County school board a list of alleged discriminatory practices in the county school system.

50 years ago (week of Feb. 24-March 2, 1946):

The Howard County Farmers Cooperative purchased land in Sykesville for the construction of a freezer locker plant, similar to the one in Ellicott City, to serve Sykesville area residents.
