From 'Oklahoma!' to baseball registration, spring events are waiting around the corner

IT'S THE start of another month, the one with leprechauns, kite-flying, crocuses and daffodils, and the beginning of soccer, lacrosse and baseball practice.

On top of all of the old standbys, the Easter Bunny and warmer temperatures will be here in a few weeks.

After a winter spent in a blizzard-induced coma, the only snow I want to see is in a snow cone covered with egg custard syrup.

School to hold craft sale

The Sunset Elementary School PTA will sponsor a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the school on Fort Smallwood Road.

Forty artisans will offer items for sale and a bake table will also be featured. For more details, call the school, 222-6478.

Boy Scout spaghetti dinner

Boy Scout Troop 412 will have its annual spaghetti dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 4760 Mountain Road.

Tickets are $5. Children 6 and younger can eat free.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, garden salad, dessert and beverage.

Proceeds will benefit troop activities.

'Oklahoma!' fun to begin

The Chesapeake High School Theatre Group will present its spring production of "Oklahoma!" at 7 p.m. March 7-9 in the school auditorium.

This production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical features the talents of 56 Chesapeake students onstage and behind the scenes.

Judy Quevedo is the director; Karen Rhodes is musical director. Also assisting are choreographer Rose Mulligan and technical director Walt Glinowiecki.

Tickets, available in advance or at the door, are $7 for adults and $5 for youths. For information, call 255-9600.

Batter up for registration

The Saints Baseball Club will have registration for returning players from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at Northeast High School.

New players ages 14 to 18 who are interested in joining the summer program are invited to drop in for information about the program. For details, call 647-9383.
