Three people -- including a pregnant woman -- were seriously injured in a collision on U.S. 1 in North Laurel yesterday when one car crossed a center line and slammed head-on into another vehicle, Howard County traffic investigators said.

Angus Lee, 19, of Savage, was being treated for head injuries at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday, and his passenger, Elaina Keys, who is eight-months pregnant, was being treated there for head, chest and other injuries, according to Howard County rescue officials.

The other driver, Keisha Dunston, 25, whose address was not known, was being treated for injuries to her lower body, officials said. The three were reported in serious but stable condition. The accident took place about 8:30 a.m. yesterday . Police said the driver of a southbound Chevrolet Beretta swerved to avoid a car in a left-turn lane, lost control, crossed the center line and struck a northbound Geo Metro near Lynn Buff Court.

Charges are pending, police said.
