'Much Ado' for kids

Ages 12 and older will enjoy the verbal sparring of Beatrice and Benedick, the antics of Dogberry and a host of other memorable characters when the National Players present Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" Friday and Saturday at the Olney Theatre Center for the Arts. Sponsored by the Acorn Family Project, an educational outreach program of the Olney Theatre, the Bard's romantic comedy of the battle between the sexes will be presented with a younger audience in mind in an abridged version at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Full-length performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. each day. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. The theater is at 2001 Olney/Sandy Spring Road in Olney. Call (301) 924-3400. If you're looking for a cuddly teddy bear, playthings from the past or a rare antique doll, you'll be sure to find them at the Eastern National Dolls, Toys and Games Show and Sale Saturday and Sunday at the Montgomery Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. Geared to the serious collector and the browser, the show will include more than 500 tables with antique and modern dolls, toys and games, doll houses, doll clothing, supplies and accessories.

Hours for the family event are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission of $5 is good for both days; children under 12 are free. The fairgrounds are just off Exit 11, Intersate 270. Call (800) 805-4060.
