February 27, 1996

Opponent: New York Rangers

Site: Madison Square Garden, New York

Time: 7:30

Radio: WNAV (1430 AM)

Outlook: The Capitals go into New York with a three-game losing streak and without leading scorer Peter Bondra (hamstring) and their two big defensemen, Mark Tinordi (concussion) and Brendan Witt (broken wrist). All three will miss this three-game road trip that continues against Florida on Thursday and against Boston on Saturday before the team returns to USAir Arena for Sunday's game against Philadelphia. The Caps called up LW Andrew Brunette from Portland, where he led the Pirates in scoring with 21 goals and 55 assists. The Rangers hit a bit of a rough spot last week, losing two of three games, but come into this game off a 4-0 victory over Florida on Saturday. Rangers G Mike Richter (groin) is out. Caps C Stefan Ustorf (shoulder) did not make the trip.
