Hahn, Radin each score twice Terps storm past Villanova, 12-6

Maryland now victorious in 11 of past 12 openers

Five players scored in a 5-0 third-quarter run to help Maryland come back and defeat Villanova, 12-6, in the Terps' men's lacrosse opener yesterday before 363 in College Park.

Matt Hahn and Frank Radin each scored two goals to lead the Terps. Maryland, which outshot Villanova 41-18, has won 11 of its past 12 openers.

Maryland, which trailed 3-2 at halftime, put the game away by go

ing on another five-goal spurt to end the game. Dave Marks scored three goals and Marc Cadin made 18 saves to keep the Wildcats in the game.

The Terps play host to Duke on Saturday.

* Penn State 13, Michigan State 8: Greg Jackson, Chris Killoren, Todd Korte and Rob Warren scored two goals apiece as Penn State (1-0) downed Michigan State (0-1) in East Lansing, Mich.

The Nittany Lions held the Spartans scoreless for the opening 19 minutes and took a 6-0 lead, then scored three of the last four goals in the half to lead 10-4.

Penn State has won 10 of its past 11 games, dating to last season. It plays at Ohio State today.
