Johns produces 41 points in Randallstown victory Catonsville rebounds from county title loss

Katrina Johns scored 41 points to lead Randallstown (8-9) over host Eastern Tech (17-3), 57-54, in a state Class 3A North region first-round playoff game yesterday.

Randallstown advances to the state quarterfinals where the Rams will play host to Woodlawn Monday or Tuesday.

* Catonsville 86, Owings Mills 20: Kelly Fetter scored 16 as host and No. 4 Catonsville (20-2) bounced back from Wednesday's loss to Milford Mill in the Baltimore County championship game in a first-round game in the Class 2A North region. Catonsville travels to Overlea Monday at 5:30 p.m. for a quarterfinal contest.

* C. Milton Wright 98, Dundalk 12: Erin Updegrove scored 17 to lead No. 5 C. Milton Wright over visiting Dundalk in a Class 3A North region first-round game. C.M. Wright will play at Franklin Monday in the quarterfinals.

* Annapolis 60, Glen Burnie 49: Stephy Samaras scored 20 points to lead No. 8 Annapolis over host Glen Burnie in a Class 4A East region first-round game. Jackie Edwards added nine rTC points for the Panthers. Annapolis will play host to Northern-Calvert in a quarterfinal game Monday or Tuesday.

* Poly 71, Stephen Decatur 47: Lindsay Willemain scored 14 points as No. 14 Poly (18-3) defeated host Stephen Decatur in a Class 2A East region first-round game. Poly will play host to City at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the quarterfinals.

* Centennial 55, J.M. Bennett 24: Meredith Price scored 14 points as No. 16 Centennial (16-6) defeated host J.M. Bennett (11-7) in a Class 3A East region first-round game. Centennial will play host to Mount Hebron Monday at 7 p.m.

* Western 83, Southwestern 40: Freshman Crystal Fallin scored 21 and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 17 Western (17-4) routed Southwestern (5-9) in a Class 4A North region first-round game. Letia Few and Delayna DeShields added 10 points apiece for the defending Class 4A state champion Doves. Western will play at Northwestern Monday in a quarterfinal contest.

* Hammond 41, Fairmont Heights 36: Kellye Townsend scored (( 12 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter to lift No. 18 Hammond (16-7) over visiting Fairmont Heights (8-13) in a Class 2A South region first-round game. Rene Hines had 11 points and 14 rebounds and Nicole Owe added eight points and 14 rebounds for Hammond, which will travel to Lackey Monday for a quarterfinal game.

* Walbrook 61, Patterson 56: Danielle Turner scored 27 points and had 33 rebounds to lead visiting Walbrook (13-6) past Patterson in the first round of the Class 4A North Region. Walbrook plays host to Perry Hall Monday or Tuesday in a quarterfinal game.

* South River 69, Wicomico 24: Jess Marion scored 24 points to lift host South River (7-16) over visiting Wicomico in a Class 2A East first-round game. South River will play host to Forest Park Monday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

* Loch Raven 51, Pikesville 30: Nicole Froman had 12 points and eight steals to pace Loch Raven past visiting Pikesville in a Class 2A North region first-round game. Loch Raven plays at Towson Monday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

* Lansdowne 56, Aberdeen 45: Sarah Grimes scored 19 points in leading host Lansdowne (17-7) over Aberdeen in a Class 2A North region first-round contest. Lansdowne will be at North East of Cecil County Monday in the quarterfinals.

* South Carroll 55, Magruder 34: Shannan Henley scored 13 to lead host South Carroll (12-10) over Magruder in a Class 3A West region first-round game. South Carroll will travel to Richard Montgomery for a quarterfinal game Monday.

* Oakland Mills 59, Forestville 17: Kena Hodges scored 22 to power host Oakland Mills (5-17) past Forestville (0-21) in a Class 2A South region first-round game. Oakland Mills travels to Surrattsville Monday at 7 p.m. for a region quarterfinal contest.

* F.S. Key 39, Poolesville 32: Nicole Keefer's team-high 11 points helped the Eagles to a Class 1A South first-round regional win. F.S. Key will play host to Carver A&T in a quarterfinal game Monday.

* North County 50, Queen Anne's 31: Kysha Naylor scored 13 points as North County (11-11) downed visiting Queen Anne's in a Class 4A East region first-round game. North County will play in a quarterfinal at Old Mill Monday.
