John Carroll School names principal

February 23, 1996

BEL AIR -- John Carroll School has named an alumna, Carol Ripken Goldbeck, its principal, effective July 1. She will replace Gary L. Scholl, who has been acting principal this year.

Mrs. Goldbeck, a 1972 graduate of John Carroll, has been principal of the Institute of Notre Dame, a girls' high school in Baltimore, for six years. She was a teacher and vice principal of student activities at Notre Dame from 1976 until becoming principal.

The Perryman resident will be the permanent successor to Robert J. Garbacik, who resigned as John Carroll's principal last year. The coeducational high school on Churchville Road has 625 students.
