Police arrest local man in mall theft

February 22, 1996

County police arrested a Glen Burnie man Monday on charges of stealing $176 worth of shirts and trousers from J. C. Penney in Marley Station.

Merdock Wooden, a store security guard, told police that he saw a man pick up two pairs of Dockers trousers and two Dockers shirts in the men's clothing department about 1:30 p.m. Mr. Wooden said he saw the man hide the merchandise under his jacket and leave without paying, police said.

Mr. Wooden detained the man for officers, police said.

Robert Thomas Scott, 36, of the 800 block of Dale Road was charged with theft and released on his own recognizance.
