Equipment stolen from office of school board

February 22, 1996

Someone broke into a Board of Education office during the weekend, climbed above the ceiling to get into another room and stole $425 worth of electronic equipment, county police said.

This is the second break-in of this kind in the facilities management building in recent weeks, administrator Warren McHenry told police.

Mr. McHenry called police shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when he discovered that a combined television/videocassette recorder and a radio had been stolen from the office in the 2600 block of Riva Road.

Police said the culprit used a fire extinguisher to break a small window on the door of an adjacent room and unlocked the door.

The thief went through several desk drawers and took loose change and the equipment, police said.
