One-car crash kills Westminster woman

February 20, 1996

A 24-year-old Westminster woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning when the car she was riding in spun out of control on Route 97.

Katherine Louise Caltrider of the 3800 block of Littlestown Pike was killed about 1:40 a.m. Saturday when David Carroll King Jr. failed to negotiate the curve at Route 97 and Stone Road north of Westminster, police said.

The 1990 Lincoln Continental crossed the center line and skidded into the southbound lane. The car then spun back across the road, striking a street sign and a telephone pole, police said.

Police said Mr. King, 20, who lived with Ms. Caltrider, was released from the Maryland Shock Trauma Center Saturday night.

A second passenger, Michael David Parry, 22, of East Main Street in Westminster, was also released from the trauma center Saturday night.

Police, who are still investigating the case, said Mr. Parry was riding in the back seat, while Ms. King was in the front passenger seat.
