7 are charged in Taneytown drug raids

Seven Taneytown residents were arrested Friday night after county sheriff's deputies and Taneytown police officers raided four homes in search of drugs.

Sheriff John H. Brown said yesterday that warrants for the raid were secured after an investigation into activities at the homes on Frederick and Middle streets in Taneytown.

Officers raided three homes on Frederick Street about 11 p.m. Friday, the sheriff said, and a home on Middle Street an hour later.

Marijuana and cocaine were seized, he said.

Those arrested and the charges against them are:

* Robert Michael Peters Jr., 26, of Middle Street, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, released on $15,000 bond.

* Tina Lynn Rill, 30, of Frederick Street, possession of paraphernalia and possession of crack cocaine, released on $2,500 bond.

* Jeffery Allen Heiser, 34, of Frederick Street, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana, released on $4,000 bond.

* Carroll Randall Lescallett, 24, Daniel Howard Chisholm, 22, and Lea Elizabeth Parks, 26, all of Frederick Street, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, released on their own recognizance.

* Jessee Schissler of Middle Street, on an outstanding Westminster warrant for alleged theft and failure to appear, released on $2,500 bond.

Police also found Ronald Hammond of Middle Street, who was wanted by the Taneytown Police Department in an assault with a deadly weapon case. He was served with a criminal summons.

Fire

Keysville: Taneytown, Union Bridge and Harney responded to a chimney fire on Keysville Frederick County Road at 10:09 a.m. Sunday. Units were out an hour.

Union Bridge: Union Bridge responded to a house trailer fire on Coppermine Road at 1:19 a.m. Sunday. Units were out 30 minutes.
