25 years ago (week of Feb. 14-20, 1971):

The first seven workers out of a potential 10,000 began work at the GE Appliance Park. The workers unloaded a railway shipment of refrigerators that would be stored in the facility's 1 million-square-foot warehouse.

50 years ago (week of Feb. 10-16, 1946):

The Howard County Council of Homemakers met at the Freezer Locker in Ellicott City. Dr. A. B. Hamilton from the University of Maryland addressed the group. His topic was the United Nations and its goal of lasting peace.
